Not sure if this is the correct sub forum. Anyway, I will be off to the LFC vs. Everton game on the 6th of Feb (lucky me). I will be starting off seeing some friends in London then heading up for the game. I'd like to get some info from guys who have been on tour in terms of travel and accomodation.
1. I presume taking a train to Liverpool from London would be best, am I right and how much would a ticket be? Any idea on the duration of the trip?
2. Which would be a good place to stay at in Liverpool?
3. I see I can book a tour to see the stadium and museum on the official website. Any idea if one can book at the ground beforehand?
OK, so those are my questions. If you have anymore advice, please share!
1. Take a trip from London Euston to Liverpool Limestreet. You can try book online on www.thetrainline.co.uk or try virgin trains (google it). The cost depends on the day you're travelling. But you'll get an idea on the website.
I struggled to pay online using a South African credit card. Try get someone to help you there in the UK for payment if you can.
2. Try the premier inn hotels either by the Albert Dock or by Vernon Street which is close to Queens Square (big bus stop).
3. You can book at the ground but I suggest doing it online or through a friend who can call the stadium on your behalf.

Book your train tickets and hotel room as soon as humanly possible as there are cheaper train tickets available but have been on sale for the past couple of months. If you're lucky you can get a return from Euston to Liverpool for around £25.
The Premier Inn is very good value for money and you should find rooms available as there won't be as many people travelling in from out of town for the derby.
I am going to that game myself and live 45 mins out of town so gimme a shout if there's anything else you need to know...

Word of caution: If the game is televised (yes) then you won't be able to do the full tour the day before matchday, as they close off Anfield for camera installations.
Being a Saturday match, you may want to travel up on Thursday, do the tour the same day, and use Friday to see the city.
------------ Believe.
