Andrew Young, famous saxophonist born in Liverpool, and a Liverpool FC fanatic, will be at Hillcrest Christian Fellowship Auditorium KZN on 20 10 2010 (20 October) playing a tribute to the music of, yes, Liverpool. The show is called 'I'm From Liverpool'.
He'll be backed by his band from Cape Town and a small string orchestra. Needless to say there'll be lots of Beatles music, but there's also a backing video featuring Liverpool as Andrew and the Beatles grew up there. Andrew has always had lots to say about Liverpool FC during his concerts.
Before the last UK footy season, when Rapid Vienna played Liverpool in a pre season friendly (which Liverpool sadly lost) Andrew played 'You'll Never Walk Alone' on the pitch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l6qI6PnECvQ and during the match was on the bench! He was photographed with every team member (see attached photo with Torres and the other with him on the bench with Martin Skrtel.) Proof of his dedication to Liverpool FC.
We're expecting anything up to 4500 to attend this concert. Part of the proceeds will go to Focus on Ithemba, a local school for orphans. It would be fantastic if some Liverpool fans turned up in their soccer gear and with Liverpool FC banners. It would really make the concert come alive. Tickets are only R60 (R30 for students and pensioners) and are available at most Upper Highway Spars and Hillcrest Christian Academy (031 765 2752).
