Liverpool Fc striker Luis Suarez rejects Patrice Evra racism claims in FA interview
By James PearceNov 3 2011

LUIS SUAREZ has delivered a robust formal defence against allegations of racist abuse after the Football Association finally held talks with the Liverpool FC striker.

LFC manager Kenny Dalglish today revealed that FA officials visited Melwood earlier this week – nearly three weeks after the damaging claims were made by Manchester United defender Patrice Evra.

Suarez has always vehemently denied any wrongdoing and he has Liverpool FC’s full support.

Not a shred of evidence has so far been found to back-up the complaint Evra made after the 1-1 draw at Anfield.

Dalglish is hoping the FA investigation will be brought to a swift conclusion.

“The FA have been here and they have spoken to us,” Dalglish said at Melwood today.

“Our philosophy and desire hasn't changed whatsoever. We want it resolved as quickly as it possibly can be and correctly.

“We want the perpetrator punished. I don't think we need to add anything more than that.”

Meanwhile, Dalglish confirmed Steven Gerrard is making good progress in his recovery from an ankle infection.

Gerrard will sit out Swansea's visit to Anfield on Saturday as he continues his rehabilitation.

Dalglish said: “Since they found the infection, Steven has really been progressing extremely well. Everything is positive for him.

“They found the infection and I suppose it's a wee bit like flu - you know you've got it, but you don't know where it came from.

“But they are treating and it is responding really well, so it's positive for him. It is nothing more sinister.”

Liverpool will make a late check on the fitness of Jamie Carragher (calf) but there are no other fresh injury concerns.
