Kop Kids: Jordan Lussey’s development at Liverpool FC surprises even Mike Marsh

MIKE MARSH paid tribute to the development of young forward Jordan Lussey, but admits the 17-year-old’s progress this season has come as a pleasant surprise.

Ormskirk-born Lussey, a first-year scholar, has established himself as a regular in the U18s set-up quickly, impressing with his eye for both key passes and important goals.

And Marsh revealed his rapid rise has surprised even the coaching staff at Kirkby.

“He is a really good player,” said the U18s boss. “And if I’m honest, he has matured even more quickly than I expected.

“At the start of the season I would have expected him to be involved more after Christmas and in the second half of the season. He only turned 17 last month, after all.

“But with the way he has been developing, we felt it would be wrong to hold him back.

“He has played more games than any of the first years, which is great credit to him.”
