FA Cup Semi-Finalists Cardiff City have released Robbie Fowler from his contract.
Furthermore, Rafa Benitez has seized upon this opportunity to re-sign Fowler to partner Fernando Torres in Liverpool's attempt to re-shape their formation back to the traditional 4 - 4 - 2.
Cardiff manager Dave Jones told icWales "Robbie hasn't had as many opportunities this year as we would have liked. The fact that he puts in a lot of effort in training should be commended but we thought that it would be best for all concerned if we let him go".
Chairman Peter Ridsdale, who is involved in a legal battle with a Swiss Bank in terms repayment of a massive loan, is rumoured to have authorised the release because of Fowler's huge wage package.
Fowler is due on Merseyside later today to complete his permanent deal. Although he wont be ready in time for Liverpool's game against Arsenal tomorrow, he may be ready for the return to the Emirates in the league on Saturday.
Steven Gerrard is quoted as being delighted at the opportunity of being reunited with the former Anfield legend who he hopes will end any chance of Andre Voronin returning to first team action.
