Rafael Benitez is reportedly lining up a move to bring Everton's Steven Pienaar to Anfield this summer.
The highly-rated midfielder is set to decide his future before heading to the World Cup in his native South Africa, after catching the eye of a whole host of clubs across Europe.
Everton understood to be prepared to offer a £50,000-a-week deal to keep him at Goodison Park and David Moyes has warned potential suitors that the player is happy with life with the blue half of Merseyside.
He said: "Pienaar is at a club that really suits him and sometimes a player has to decide what is best for him.
"Everton has been good for Steven. If anybody wanted to leave, they'd be poorer for it.'
But Benitez is hoping to make 28-year-old Pienaar the post-war sixth player to cross the Stanley Park boundary to join the Reds from their local rivals.
Owen Coyle, meanwhile, has refuted claims that Liverpool have made approaches for Bolton Wanderers duo Lee Chung-Yong and Gary Cahill despite Arsenal reportedly joining the hunt for the £15million-rated defender.
"I don't know anything about it. No-one has spoken to me," insisted Coyle.
"There was also speculation about Liverpool and Lee Chung-Yong, wasn't there?
"I can assure you there has been no dialogue (with Liverpool) at my level. And I hope I would have been told had it gone any higher."
